Gratitude is owed to Anita and Dave Kennedy for introducing Dr. Junghardt and Father Théo to each other. Father Théo had intended to have eye surgery done in Italy, but that would have required him to fly to Italy three times (initial examination, operation on the right, then the left eye).
We performed cataract surgery in one procedure to save costs. Father Théo was extremely pleased and discovered what it meant to see well again. Togo has only a few ophthalmologists, which is why we decided to launch the project ToGo opening eyes in this poor country.
When we were faced with the decision "to go or not to go to Togo?" the answer was:"yes, we go! And from this play on words "ToGo opening eyes" was born.
